Rebecca S. Miller
Rebecca S. Miller, 79, of Fairmount Homes, formerly of Leola, entered into rest on Friday, November 29, 2013. Born in Gap, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Glick Lantz. Her husband, Jacob C. Miller died in 2008. A member of the Weavertown Amish-Mennonite Church, she was active in the Senior sewing circle.
Mrs. Miller trained in nursing in Harrison, Ark., and graduated as an LPN working in this capacity until retirement in 2004. She worked at Hillcrest Home in Arkansas and several years in Elkhart; later serving in Belize and Paraguay with Amish Mennonite Aid. After returning to Lancaster Co. in 1984, she worked at the Mennonite Home and Evergreen Estates. She loved nursing and tried to give her best. Especially rewarding were her experiences in other countries working primarily with mothers and newborn.
Surviving are: nine step-children, Verna (Miller) married to Amos Esh, Dryden, ONT, Leona (Miller) married to Dan Peachy, Strasburg, Lloyd Miller married to Mary Ann (Smucker), Lancaster, Esther (Miller) married to Melvin Kauffman, Lancaster, Linda Miller, Leola, Dan Lapp, Ronks, Marvin Lapp married to Mary (Lapp), Lancaster, Anne (Lapp) married to Sam Blank, Gap, John Lapp married to Sylvia (Rhinier), Brownstown; 28 step-grandchildren; a number of step-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Miriam Mrs. Jonathan Stoltzfus, Ronks, Reuben Lantz, Bradenton, FL, Sadie Stoltzfus, Leola, Naomi Mrs. Robert Sebourn, Sarasota, FL; sisters-in-law, Martha and Emma Lantz, Mary and Emma Miller; also 57 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Elam, Alpheus, Phares, Levi, Omer Lantz, Barbara Fisher, Lydia Glick and Susie Beiler; two nieces and one nephew.
The family would like to thank Fairmount Homes and Hospice for the loving care given to Rebecca during her stay there.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 from the Weavertown Amish-Mennonite Church, 2900 Church Rd., Bird-in-Hand. Viewing: Monday, 5-8 p.m. at Weavertown and after the service on Tuesday. Interment: the adjoining cemetery.
