Robert L. (Bob) Davenport, Sr. Robert L. "Bob" Davenport, Sr., 71, of
Talmage, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Wellspan Ephrata Community
Hospital. Born in Lebanon, he was the
son of Clifford and Ruth Smith Davenport. He was the loving husband and best friend of Betty L. Fink Davenport.
Bob served in the U. S. Air Force. He was a supervisor in the environmental
services department at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lancaster. Bob enjoyed spending time with his
family. He often attended car shows with
his children and grandchildren. He
enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and birdwatching. He was an avid reader and a fan of NASCAR.
Bob was a passionate artist, working on
freelance projects that went beyond being a hobby. He won numerous awards for his work, which
include a replica of the house from "Little House on the Prairie" that he built
from scratch.
Surviving in addition to his wife
are: three children, Bob, Jr., husband
of Dawn Davenport, Cindy wife of Douglas Schultz, Richard husband of Tracy
Davenport; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie wife of
Thomas Lehman; a brother, David Weckerly. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford, Jr., and Lawrence
Davenport.
A memorial service will be held from the
Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola, on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 3
PM. The family will visit with friends
from 2 to 3 PM at the funeral home on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Porphyria
Foundation, 4900 Woodway, Suite 780, Houston, TX 77056.
