Myrtle Chapman Myrtle Chapman loved her family a "Bushel
and a Peck", for all of her 101 years. The daughter of Frederick and Matilda Kundert, Myrtle was born Oct. 4,
1916, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She spent
her childhood and early adult years singing and lovingly gathering with her
brothers, sisters, and extended family.
Myrtle always marveled at "What a
Wonderful World" we live in and enjoyed drives in the countryside, beautiful
sunsets, and walks along beaches. A talented singer, yodeler, and organist,
Myrtle always had a song for every occasion.
After meeting George Chapman, she decided
she wouldn't "Sit Under the Apple Tree" with anyone but him. They were married for 67 wonderful years. On
George's final day on Earth, his eyes lit up when he saw Myrtle and said,
"There's my girl," as he took her hand in his. On Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, George, again, could be hand in hand with
"his girl" when she met him in Heaven.
Surviving Myrtle are "Her Sunshines, Her
only Sunshines," daughter Lorrie (David) Hunter; sons Douglas (Esther) Chapman,
Bruce (Catherine) Chapman, Scott (Colleen) Chapman; 16 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and her brother Milton Kundert. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband,
11 siblings, and a granddaughter.
Myrt, Ma, Gramma, Great-Grandma, Nennie .
. .Myrtle had many names, but most of all she will be remembered for the love
she shared and her voice singing "I love you a bushel and a peck, a bushel and
a peck and a hug around the neck, a hug around the neck and a barrel and a
heap, a barrel and heap, and I'm talkin' in my sleep about you!"
