J. Clair Hollinger J. Clair Hollinger, 88, of Landis Homes,
formerly of Lititz, went home to be with his Lord, on Wednesday, November 8,
2017. Born in W. Lampeter Twp., he was
the son of the late Mahlon S. and Katie R. Leaman, Hollinger. He was the loving husband of Lois E. Shirk
Hollinger, having celebrated 65 years of marriage in September.
After serving 1W service in Philadelphia for
2 years, he went on to work as a cabinet maker for Kreider Brothers in
Smoketown. A graduate of Eastern Mennonite Seminary, he served several
congregations including Vine Street Mennonite and Charlotte St. Mennonite churches
in Lancaster, Ridgeway Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg, VA, and Lititz Mennonite
Church. Along with his wife, he served
as a missionary in Trinidad. He also
taught industrial art at Lancaster Mennonite High School. He also served as a radio pastor for Moments
of Glad Tidings. He served as an
evangelist in many churches throughout Lancaster County and beyond.
Clair will be remembered for his devotion
to God and his family, as well as his stories and poems. He enjoyed building
wooden puzzles and playing games. Clair
loved people; everyone he met became a friend.
In
addition to his wife, he will be lovingly missed by: 3 sons, Jeryl married to Mary Hurst Hollinger, Kalispell, MT, John married to
Grace Garber Hollinger, Quarryville, Joseph married to Cheryl Sell Hollinger,
Lancaster; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Hollinger, Kathryn (Kay)
Hollinger, both of Lancaster; brothers-in-law, Harvey Hostetter, Landis Homes,
Willard Stauffer, Ephrata. He was
preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will held on Tuesday,
Nov. 14th at 11 AM at the Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, 1001 E.
Oregon Rd., Lititz. The family will
visit with friends from 9 to 10:45 AM at the chapel on Tuesday. Private interment will be in Mellinger
Mennonite Cemetery. If desired,
contributions may be made to the Landis Homes Caring Fund or Hospice and
Community Care.
