Mervin R. Forry



     Mervin R. Forry, 90, of Lancaster went peacefully home to heaven to be with Jesus and his loving wife on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at his residence. He was the son of the late B. Earl Forry and Fanny K. (Root) Forry. He was the loving husband of the late Martha A. (Ressler) Forry. They were married for 68 years.

     He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was really excited when the family members joined hands to build a cabin on a lot he purchased years before.  It was named the Bear Den and many weekends were spent there with family and friends. He enjoyed playing pinochle especially at deer camp, playing late into the evening. His real passion was driving truck which he did for 50 years as an owner operator hauling for Coldway Carriers, Rodgers Motor Lines, and Ned Bard & Son of Leola. After retirement he delivered new Peterbilt trucks to customers for Peterbilt of Lancaster.

     He is survived by three children; Judith A. Glick, wife of the late Marvin L. Glick, Mt Joy, Edwin L. husband of Karen Bomberger Forry of Lancaster, Herbert E., husband of Patricia Ann Coppock Forry of Lancaster; Three grandchildren, Chad, Cheri, and Kelli; seven great grandchildren, Morgan, Caroline, Reese, Clayton, Anna, Worth, and Aria; sister Martha Forry High wife of Clyde High.

     He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kristi Michelle Glick and Christopher Marvin Glick, son-in-law Marvin L. Glick; brothers Harold, Earl Jr., Richard and sister Arlene Forry Landis.

     The funeral will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2 PM at Mellinger's Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Highway East Lancaster. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:30pm to 2:00pm. Interment will be in the adjoining Mellinger's Mennonite cemetery across the road from the church.
