Raymond S. Kauffman, 84, of Bird-in-Hand, finished the race and went home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 1, 2016. He was the husband of Minerva L. Beiler Kauffman, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage this past December. Born in Bird-in-Hand he was the oldest son of the late Christian B. and Suvilla Smoker Kauffman.
As the oldest grandson of the late A. L. and Susan Kauffman, he worked in horticulture all his life, taking his place as president of the A. L. Kauffman and Sons family business for many years. He was a lifelong member of Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, Bird-in-Hand.
Besides his wife, he has seven surviving children: Carl (Judy Martin), Norman (Wanda Chupp) both of Bird-in-Hand, Pauline (Alonzo) Ramos of Gordonville, Rachel (J.B.) Stoltzfus of Paradise, Harlan (Esther Eichorn) of Burgettstown, Nathan (Jane Kauffman) of Bird-in-Hand, Susan (Jonathan) Raber of Antrim, OH; thirty-five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters Lillian Beiler of Gap, Verda (Eli) Glick of El Salvador, Judy (Ed) Beiler of Middleburg, Iva (Tom) Lapp of Gap: two sisters -in-law, Frieda Kauffman of Gordonville and Susie Kauffman of McAllisterville. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Allen and Paul Isaac.
The Funeral will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, 2900 Church Rd., Bird-in-Hand at 10 am. Friends may call on Thursday, 2-4:00 pm and 6-8:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Burgettstown area friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Cornerstone Mennonite church at 647 Eldersville Road, Burgettstown, PA on Sunday, Feb 21st at 4PM.
