Theodore R. “Ted” Grumbein, 90, a resident of Leola, died Saturday, August 9, 2025. He was married for 68 years to Kae Y. Grumbein. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Elam and Anna Rhen Grumbein.
Ted graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1953 and attended Franklin & Marshall College. He served two years in the U. S. Army. He worked for Armstrong World Industries for 40 years as a computer operator, planner scheduler, and property accountant, retiring in 1993.
Ted loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and the Phillies. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster, for 65 years, and Zion Lutheran Church, Leola, for 24 years. He was a member of Lancaster DeMolay as a teenager and was an advisor in later years. He was a member of the Andrew H. Hershey Lodge #764 and Lodge #43 combined for over 60 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: two daughters, Cynthia A. Coble, Brattleboro, VT, Jennifer K. (Roger) Bixler, Lancaster; 4 grandchildren, Kiah (Ryan), Henry (Mind), Jack, and Megan; a great-grandson, Fen. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Miller, and a brother, E. Lloyd Grumbein.
Funeral services will be from Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Rd., Leola, on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 3 PM. A viewing will be on Saturday, from 2 to 3 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Leola, or Masonic Village Hospice.
