1/10/2026

Daniel L. Bawell, 77, of Manheim, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born and raised on a farm, Daniel began his working life in the fields, shearing sheep, and then the family butcher shop, but his true passion was found in art and masonry. In his early years, he spent winters in Phoenix, where he studied and perfected his craft. He later became the proud sole proprietor of Bawell Masonry, leaving behind many beautiful creations throughout Lancaster and the surrounding counties.

Daniel had a love of history and travel, especially across the Midwest, and enjoyed a wide range of hobbies including playing guitar, hunting, and sports (especially Bawell Ball, which is a version of volleyball). Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Cordall Bawell; his brother, Jesse Bawell; and his parents, Amos and Rebecca (Lapp) Bawell.

Daniel leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Dawn (Kain); daughter DeeDee Martin; son Chad Bawell; two stepdaughters, Didi McDonald and Mik Lease; his “unofficially adopted” daughter, Lisa Treadway; nine grandchildren: Jonathan Martin, Kimberly (Bawell) Abel, Calvin Bawell, Hanna Kreiner, Cole McDonald, Olivia Wissler, Lincoln Bawell, Grace Wingert, and Cooper Wingert; great-grandchildren: Emily, Hudson, Hayden, Grant, Josie, Ethan, and Brynlee; a brother Amos Jr. and four sisters Naomi Witmer, Emma Stoltzfus, Edna Stoltzfus, Ruth Fisher; a sister-in-law, Katie Bawell. His legacy of craftsmanship, love of adventure, and devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew him.

The Visitation with family will take place on Saturday, Jan. 17th, 2026 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola PA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or another cancer cause, in Dan’s memory.
