Elisabeth “Lisa” Jean Peterson, 57, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her life.
Lisa was the beloved wife and best friend of Phillip Peterson, with whom she shared over 4 decades of friendship and 22 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, faith, and devotion. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and their shared walk with the Lord.
She is lovingly survived by her husband Phillip Peterson; her children Julien Newborg, Brandon Newborg, Brittany Newborg, and Christopher Newborg; her stepchildren Keith Heller, Justin Peterson, Christopher Peterson, Jonathan Peterson, and Nathan Peterson; her mother Francine McDonald; and her brothers Victor Newborg III, and Edwin Newborg, and stepsister Chandra Walton.
Lisa was a proud and loving grandmother to Joseph Rodriguez, Gabriel Singh, Julien Newborg Jr., Liam Newborg, Layla Newborg, Lily Newborg, Nala Frey, Dennis Frey, Abrielle Newborg, Atticus Newborg, Sophie Newborg, Shane Peterson, Alayah Peterson, Aries Peterson, Ariah Peterson, Gabriella Peterson, Phillip Peterson, Jonathan Peterson Jr., Evan Eckert, Kahlan Eckert, Danayjah “Dee” Peterson, Skye Peterson, and Emi Peterson. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Laylani Williams and Cohen Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Victor “Ponch” Newborg II; her stepdaughter, Trista Eckert; and her beloved granddaughter, Kylie Stoltzfus.
Born on the Main Line in Pennsylvania and raised in the Christiana and Gap area, Lisa formed countless lifelong friendships and touched many lives with her warmth and kindness. She had a creative spirit and found joy in drawing, calligraphy, dancing like no one was watching, listening to all kinds of music, and cruising. She loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
Above all, Lisa was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior who placed the Lord first in everything she thought, said, and did. Her unwavering faith, fierce loyalty, wonderful sense of humor, and deep love for her family and friends will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Though her presence will be profoundly missed, her love, faith, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she cherished.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 4 pm from the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola. The family will greet friends from 3 to 4 PM at the funeral home on Saturday.
