Carl S. Burkhart of Lititz, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on July 15, 2026. Born to Amos and Mary Burkhart, Carl was one of ten children and the last surviving sibling.
Carl was the beloved husband of Ann Louise (Ruocco) Burkhart of Lititz, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Debra Musser of Lititz and Dawn Smith of Everett. He was also the proud grandfather of Madison Musser of Springfield and MacKenzie Musser of Princeton, a role he cherished above all others. While he was affectionately known as “Young Bad Poppop” and “Moose,” his favorite title was simply “Poppop.”
Carl dedicated his career as a machinist with 61 Case in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was a lifelong member of Conestoga Church of the Brethren, where his faith remained a guiding force throughout his life. A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, Carl loved cheering on his favorite teams and creating lasting memories with his family during vacations to Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania, and Stone Harbor, New Jersey. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed hunting and camping in the mountains of Pennsylvania alongside his brothers.
Carl will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, steadfast faith, and the joy he found in spending time with those he loved most. His legacy lives on through his beloved wife, daughters, granddaughters, extended family, and the many friends whose lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Bareville cemetery.
