Adam L. “Pete" Harnish, 91, went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2013 at Moravian Manor, Lititz.  Born on June 12, 1922, he was the son of the late Samuel D. and Jennie B. Dombach Harnish.  He was married to Miriam Gehman Harnish with whom he celebrated 71 years of marriage on March 14 of this year.

He was a member of Calvary Church, where he served as an usher in his earlier years, and took part in prison ministry.  In 1994, he went on a mission trip to Russia. 

Before his retirement, he worked in real estate and land development first with Warren Weaver Realtor and then his own brokerage, Pete Harnish Realtor.  Prior to 1964, he worked in farming, as a salesman for Longenecker's Hatchery, as a self-employed poultry man, and as a school bus driver for East Lampeter Township for thirteen years. 

Pete was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his loving daughter, Betty Garber Stewart, wife of Mike Stewart; four grandsons and their wives, Kirk & Debbie Harnish, Craig & Nina Harnish, Jay & Karen Garber, and Kerry & Heather Garber; ten great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caleb, Adam, Mary & Isaac Harnish; and Christopher, Jonathan, Haley, Garrett & Colton Garber; and one great-great grandson, Cohen Brenner.

He was preceded in death by: a daughter and two sons, Sharon, Larry & Bill Harnish; a daughter-in-law, Judy Harnish; his two brothers and their wives, Laban & Ruth Harnish, Kenneth & Arlene Harnish; a nephew, Jeffrey Harnish; and a niece, Carol Ann McGallicher.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Moravian Manor and Hospice of Lancaster for the compassionate care they provided these past months.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. A time to meet with family and friends will take place from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a ministry close to Pete's heart, Camp David of the Ozarks, P.O. Box 1607, Rolla, MO 65401.  Camp David of the Ozarks is a non-profit Christian summer scholarship camp uniquely designed to meet the needs of children of prisoners.
