Alvin S. Kauffman, 88, of Ephrata went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. Born in Intercourse, he was the son of the late Eli K. and Barbara Z. Smoker Kauffman. He was the loving husband of Elsie M. Hoppes Kauffman. They were married for 67 years. Mr. Kauffman was a truck driver for several local companies. He attended the Lancaster Alliance Church; enjoyed woodworking, bowling, puzzles, playing cards and hunting. A life member of the Stevens Fire Co., he served the community for over 50 years.
In addition to his wife, Alvin is survived by: four children, Ronald married to Pauletta Kauffman, Stevens, Cindy married to Jeff Bryan, Adamstown, Mike married to Angie Kauffman, Beth married to Freeman Chakara, both Lititz; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruthann married to Marcos Vega, FL, Edith married to the late Larry Lausch, Ephrata, Esther Harmon, VA, Naomi married to the late Eugene Edris, Myerstown, Elsie Martin, Lititz, Elizabeth married to the late Jerry Hill, VA; a sister-in-law, Rose Kauffman, Enola. A son, Darrell; siblings, Isaac, Elmer, Mary, Lena and Hannah preceded him in death.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola with viewing there from 9 – 11 a.m. Interment in Zion’s Cemetery, Berks Co. will be at the family’s convenience. Kindly omit flowers.
