Anna N. Buckwalter, 103, of Brethren Village, formerly of Ronks, entered into rest on Sunday, May 3, 2015. She was the wife of the late John M. Buckwalter who died in 1985. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ida Nissley Fahnestock.
Mrs. Buckwalter was a tour guide in the “Amish Country" from 1965 to 2001; and also a taxi driver for the Amish. She was a registered nurse graduating from the LGH program in 1933; her nursing experiences covered 70 years. She was a member of the Conestoga Church of the Brethren, Leola, serving with her husband as deacons for many years. A past Lancaster County chairman, she was involved with the Fresh Air Program for 23 years. She was known as “Mom" to hundreds of international students and also served as a host to Allied Military Officers from Aberdeen and Fort Belvoir.
She is survived by: two children, Jean Reist of Dillsburg, PA, J. Glen husband of Linda R. Buckwalter of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. A brother Jacob Fahnestock preceded her in death.
The memorial service will be Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the Conestoga Church of the Brethren, 141 E. Main Street, Leola, PA. Friends may call from 9:00AM until 10:00AM at the church.
Private interment: Bareville Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Memorials are welcomed to the Conestoga Church of the Brethren.
