Anna Z. Horst, 92, of 35 Mountain Road, Denver, formerly of Leola, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the residence of her son Harlan Horst where she resided since 2009. She was under the care of Hospice & Community Care. Born in Hinkletown, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Elizabeth Zimmerman Burkholder. Mrs. Horst was the wife of the late Eli M. Horst who died in 2012. A homemaker, she was a member of the Groffdale Frame Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are five daughters: Mabel married to Raymond Wise, Waterloo, NY; Mary Jane and Etta Mae Horst, both Ephrata; Ruth Ann married to Willis Zimmerman, Romulus, NY; Verna Elizabeth Horst, Denver, PA; six sons, Leon married to Mary Joyce (Stauffer), Baring, MO; Elvin married to Esther Mae (Martin), Refton; David married to Martha (Martin), Newburg, PA; Lester married to Anna (Brubaker), Romulus, NY; Harlan married to Charlotte (Sensenig), Denver; and Leroy married to Erla (Martin), Savannah, NY; 55 grandchildren; 165 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mary Z. wife of the late Ivan Nolt now married to Melvin Martin, Edna Z. wife of the late Noah Weaver, Lena Z. wife of Paul Zimmerman, Ivan Z. husband of Irene Burkholder, Harvey Z. husband of Jeannette Burkholder, Ella Z. wife of the late Raymond Hurst now married to Isaac Zimmerman, Etta Z. wife of Edwin Martin, Norman Burkholder, Elvin Z. husband of the late Ruth Burkholder; sister-in-law, Annie wife of the late Noah Burkholder. She was preceded in death by: a grandson, Philip Horst; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Aaron, Noah and David Burkholder; sisters, Alta Z. Zimmerman, Elizabeth Z. Martin and Ada Z. Snyder.
The visitation will be on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Martindale Reception Center, 352 Martindale Rd. Ephrata from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, May 8, 2015 at 9 a.m. at the Martindale Reception Center with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Groffdale Frame Mennonite Church, Groffdale Church Road, Leola with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman officiating. Interment: the adjoining cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
