Arthur Dale Gamber


     Arthur Dale Gamber, 74, of Lancaster, passed away following a five-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Dale was the son of the late Arthur B. and Edna Herr Gamber, and the stepson of the late Ruth Whisler Gamber; and husband of Phyllis Graham Gamber. They had their 47th anniversary on June 3rd.

     He was a 1969 Conestoga Valley graduate, and he graduated from Hesston College in 1971 with an Associate’s Degree. Two years were spent in alternative service with Mennonite Central Committee in Harlan, KY. During that time, he assisted people with disabilities in a woodworking shop. He worked 40 years at Sperry New Holland/Case New Holland in the drafting department. After retirement Dale worked at Kitchen Kettle Village for five years as a part-time painter in the maintenance department. Dale was a member of Forest Hills Mennonite Church, where he was a Sunday School Secretary and usher. Since 2001 he was Secretary/Treasurer for the Eby Cemetery Association. In his spare time Dale was a Chevrolet car enthusiast. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Perry County and yearly trips to the beach with his children and grandchildren.

      In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Ryan Dale (Theresa King) Gamber, Dana Ann (James) Shannon; grandchildren, Christian James Shannon, Kieren Patrick Shannon, and twins Bellanira Melani Gamber, and Brian Riso Gamber; and four sisters, Joanne (Richard) Markley, EmmaJean (Leonard) Fitzmaurice, Geraldine (David) Charles, and Darlene (Peter Omaggio, the late Dennis) Fenstermacher.

     The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff whom Dale considered friends at Barshinger Cancer Center, especially Dr. Beer and his team, LGH, and Hospice and Community Care.

     Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Rd., Leola PA 17540 on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00AM. Greeting the family will take place following the service. Burial at Eby Cemetery, Leola, will be private at the family’s convenience.
