Barbara Jean “Jeannie” Landis, 74, of Lancaster, went to her Heavenly Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 23, 2023 while under Hospice care at home after a four-year battle with breast cancer.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Dorothy (Erb) Thomas. She was the wife of Gerald L. Landis for 55 years. She attended Calvary Church, The Worship Center, and LCBC.  She graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School.

She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother.  She loved working with children and was a Preschool aide for years at Toddlers Campus, First Baptist Church, Wheaton, IL.  Jeannie enjoyed her sons’ activities, especially going to their sports events. I don’t think she ever missed a game or event.  She enjoyed going to Chicago Bulls games as a family during the time when Michael Jordan & the Bulls won six World Championships.  She loved visiting and being with her grandchildren in Texas.  She enjoyed going on vacations, primarily visiting beaches from New Jersey to Florida. She met her future husband at the beach – Ocean City, NJ!

She was known for her love for Jesus; her sweet, gentle, great smile; her inspiration to others spiritually; and was admired for her prayer relationship with the Lord and her positive attitude.

Jeannie will be lovingly missed by her loving husband Gerald; son, Chad husband of Jennifer Landis, Austin TX; two grandchildren, Aidan and Malia; three sisters, Marianne wife of the late Michael Grove; Nancy wife of Nelson Hess, Lois wife of Glen Showalter. Jeannie was preceded in death by a son, Tim.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute and Hospice & Community Care for their care of Jeannie.

The Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2023 at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Rd., Lancaster PA 17601.  The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.  Private Interment: Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers. Memorials are welcomed to: the Calvary Church Benevolent Fund or the Global Ministry Fund c/o the above address.
