Betty J. Kreider, 79, of 2255 Creek Hill Rd, Lancaster, went home with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Born in Ronks, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Cora Hershey Book. She was the wife of John E. Kreider. They were married for— years. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for the family business, Show-Ease Stall Co. She was a member of Mellinger Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the sewing circle. She invested herself in many charities and personal relationships. She made comforters for the Mennonite Central Committee.
Besides her husband, she is survived by six children, Connie wife of Roy Bender of Lancaster, Barry husband of Erika Kreider of Akron, John Jr. husband of Carolyn Kreider, Philip husband of Lauren Kreider, Jen wife of Dean Peifer, Kirby husband of Cassie Kreider all of Lancaster; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Book of Ronks; sisters, Helen Rutt of Willow Street, Marian Groff of Mt. Joy, Rhoda Mast of Lancaster and Miriam Book of Harleysville. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Hwy East, Lancaster. Friends may call Saturday, 6-8:00 PM and Sunday, 2-3:00 PM at the church. Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
