Blane Eugene Hoover, 61, of Lancaster went home to be with the Lord on May 9, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Lancaster on April 30, 1953, he was the son of Paul R. and Janet (Frymyer) Hoover. He attended Conestoga Valley High School. He worked at Occupational Development Center, Goodwill Industries and EARS in Ephrata. He attended Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Blane’s hobbies included drawing caricatures and comics and taking walks in the country. His family and friends enjoyed his big smile and his excellent memory of family birthdates and details, along with his wit.

Over the past several years he resided at Keystone Group Home in Millersville. His family appreciates his longtime caregivers while living there. Since August, he has resided at Conestoga View.  Blane’s family is grateful for the compassionate care he received from the staff on 6 East.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother Barry of Lancaster and three sisters Brenda Bare married to Donald Bare of Lancaster, Beverly Funk married to Gregory Funk of Manheim and Barbara Snavely of Lancaster. He is also survived by three nephews, four nieces, and 13 grand nephews and grand nieces.

A private burial will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:30 am, officiated by Reverend Keith Irvine. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:30 to 11:30 am. If desired, contributions in Blane’s honor may be made to Water Street Rescue Mission or Salvation Army.
