C. David Schuler, 76, of Evergreen Estates, passed away at Fairmount Homes on August 24, 2026. Dave was the son of Charles “Sam” Schuler and Roberta (Gunzenhauser) Schuler and lived the majority of his life in Leola.
Dave graduated from Conestoga Valley H.S. in 1968 and was a graduate of Robert Morris College and Kent State University. He later earned a teaching certificate from Millersville University. Over the years he worked a variety of jobs but was most proud of the years he spent teaching special education in the School District of Lancaster.
Dave endured multiple health issues over the years, including an 18-year battle with Parkinson’s. Despite it all, he always remained positive and upbeat. He met each and every one of his challenges in life, including the passing of his daughter, with tenacity, strength, and courage. Dave was a friend to all and took interest in their lives. He was an AA member, a commitment from which he never wavered in 45 years–a true testament to his perseverance and determination.
Dave was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Leola, and more recently attended Lancaster Evangelical Free Church in Lititz.
He is survived by his support team of high school friend, Marianne Wenger, Leola, and two buddies, Gerard Albert, Lancaster, and Pete Wolosyn, Leola, who will all miss him dearly. Also surviving is a sister, Susan, and 3 nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, Kate, and a nephew.
At Dave’s request, there will be no formal service. Interment will be private in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Neffsville. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at a later date.
