Charles W. Kurtz, 66, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ward M. and Kathryn Brubaker Kurtz.

He was a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and the Lancaster Business School.  He served in the U. S. Navy from 1968 to 1973.  He worked for Lancaster Laboratories as a purchasing specialist, retiring after 31 years.  He had also worked at Kurtz's Store, and Weaver's Quality Eggs.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, MD.  He was also a life member of the Upper Leacock Fire Company, a life member of AMVETS Post #136, Ephrata, and a member of American Legion Post #194, Rising Sun.

Surviving are: two daughters, Abby L. Kurtz of Pittsburgh, Angie wife of Maj. Scott Geary, Arlington, VA; a niece, Peggy wife of Mike Keller of Ephrata; 2 nephews, J. Michael husband of Robin Kurtz, Seymour, TN, F. Jeffrey husband of Marie Kurtz of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Evelyn Kurtz; eight great nieces and nephews; two great-great nephews; numerous cousins.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred L. Kurtz.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:30 AM from St. Paul's Lutheran Church 201 Mt Royal Ave. Aberdeen, MD.  The family will visit with friends from 10 to 11:30 AM at the church. Private interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park.  The family also invites friends and family to a Celebration of Life at 1110 Hunsicker Road Lancaster, PA from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Hospice and Community Care, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, or to American Legion Post #194.
