Chris M. Lantz, 81, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook, where he spent the last five years.
Born in Gordonville, the son of Samuel L. and Mary F. Lantz, Chris was preceded in death by a son, Steven James Lantz, and will be lovingly missed by his two daughters, Stephanie Jean Lantz (of Lancaster) and Sarah C. Lantz (of Philadelphia). Also preceding him in death are two siblings, Barbara (married to Abe) Dienner and Benjamin (married to Mary) Lantz. He leaves behind two siblings, Naomi (married to Elmer) Stoltzfus and Levi (married to Sadie) Lantz.
An active community member and Army veteran, Chris served on the board of directors at Tel Hai and was a longtime member of Sertoma. He lived for most of his life in Leola where he was an active member of Forest Hills Mennonite Church. He worked in real estate for over 30 years. He loved trips to Florida, golfing, bowling, hunting, playing cards, community events, and just being on the road. He was a loyal attendee of all of his children’s activities and always willing to help a friend in need.
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook on Thursday, Dec. 28th. Visitation with family will be from 3-4pm, with the service beginning at 4pm. A private interment will take place at Eby’s Cemetery at Monterey Chapel in Leola.
