David Barthel Larison, 76, of Leola, PA, passed away on October 19. He was born in Newton, NJ, on January 23, 1948, the eldest son of Harry and Barbara (Plumer) Larison. On April 26, 1969, he married Katherine (McGee) Larison.
David was a graduate of the University of New Mexico, where he met his wife, Katherine. He worked for the Social Security Administration and the New Mexico Disability Determination Unit for twenty years. Moving frequently in the early years of their marriage, he and Katherine returned to Albuquerque, where they lived for more than thirty-five years before they relocated to Leola in 2021.
David was an avid student of history and read extensively throughout his life. Competing in track and cross country in school, he was a dedicated runner on the trails of the Bosque in Albuquerque for decades. David enjoyed long road trips, Inspector Morse mystery novels, and playing golf with friends. He often vacationed in Madeira Beach, Florida, where his family had also gone when he was a child.
David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katherine, his son, Daniel, his daughter-in-law, Kristine, and his granddaughter, Elizabeth. Also surviving is his brother, Keith Larison, two nieces, and one nephew.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00 am at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery, (new section) 2420 Kissel Hill Road, Lancaster, PA.
