David S. Buckwalter, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 at the Inpatient Facility of Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy after a lengthy illness. Born in Narvon, he was the son of the late Ralph and Catherine (Shelly) Buckwalter.
David worked as a realtor for many years, most recently for Town & Country Realty. Formerly he was a co-owner of Clover Realty. A carpenter and builder, he owned Buckwalter Construction until 1981 and built 150-200 homes in Lancaster County during the 1960's. David cared about his community and was a member/past president of the Bareville-Leola-Leacock Lions Club where he received a Melvin Jones Fellow Award; member of the Realtors Assoc.; past member of the Rotary. He enjoyed golf and especially woodworking. He often gave a number of his wood turnings as presents to family and friends.
David is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Donna Leaman, Mt. Joy, Dennis married to Marlene Buckwalter, Tammy L. Sweet, both of Lancaster; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; step-sons, Tracy married to Jan Biddle, Canton, OH, Troy married to Christine Biddle, Beaufort, SC; one step-grandson; two brothers, Raymond married to Margie Buckwalter, Paul married to the late Jane Buckwalter; three sisters, Dorothy married to the late William Fegley, Pearl married to Emil Schulze, Ruth Ann married to Kenneth Bensing; half-brother, Leon married to Audrey Buckwalter; half sister, Evelyn married to John Fischer. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Buckwalter; brothers, Lloyd, Carl and Irvin; sisters, Grace Baxter and Irma Sager.
The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017, 11:00 am at the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola. Greeting time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
