David William “Dave” Harting Sr., 81, of Leola, PA, passed away at home on July 4, 2013. Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late William and Maybelle (Smith) Harting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. (Sload) Harting who died in 1983.
Dave served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Dave owned and operated a garage; then went to work for Kerr Glass Co. as a shift foreman for 17 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trips to the mountains with his family. He was a lifetime member of the Bareville Fire Co.
Dave is survived by: his sons, David Jr. married to Christine Harting, Brownstown, Charles married to Gena Harting, Lancaster, Willie Harting, Leola; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Beam, Lititz.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola with interment following in Conestoga Memorial Park. The viewing will be Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at Furman’s.
