Dolores (Dee) Dunwoody, 92, widow of Jay W. Dunwoody, passed away, Tuesday, August 1st, at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA, of natural causes.
She is survived by her son, Glen and his wife Myra of Ladysmith, VA, and two grandchildren, Abigail Corbett, wife of Christopher Corbett of San Antonio, TX, Matthew Dunwoody of Alexandria, VA, and three great-grandchildren. Her eldest son, Barry L. Dunwoody, preceded her in death.
Dee was born in East St. Louis, IL. She married Jay W. Dunwoody of Leola in 1942 and spent the next 22 years as an Army wife. The couple retired to Lancaster where Dee lived for 50 years. She was a member of Leola United Methodist Church and the Lancaster Order of Amaranth. Dee volunteered as a West Lampeter Township election poll official and for the American Red Cross at Lancaster General Hospital. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening.
Services will be held, 11 AM, September 16, 2017, at the Leola United Methodist Church, 7 West Main Street, Leola, PA.
