Dorothy June (Shockey) Smucker, 91 of Farmersville, PA peacefully departed this life on Saturday, June 4, 2016. She was the loving wife of the late Edward F. Smucker who passed away April 13, 1992 after 47 years of marriage. Born in Somerset, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Edna Shockey.
She graduated from Somerset High School in 1945 and retired from Sperry New Holland. She filled her life with laughter and the love of family, church, traveling, painting, basket weaving and baking lots of pies and cakes for those she loved. Always loving a challenge and a new project, she shared generously of her gifts and talents with others.
She leaves behind four children: Sandra L. (wife of Terry Pitts) of Visalia, CA, Michael E. Smucker (husband of Nancy Bomberger) of The Villages, FL, Patricia A. (wife of Dale Getz) of Denver, PA, and Marilyn L. (wife of Jeffery Johnson) of The Villages, FL; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Ruth Platt, Jean Walker, Janet Gulliver and a brother Roy Shockey, all of Somerset, PA. She was preceded in death by a sister Betty Shockey and brothers Jay and Dale Shockey.
Our family has been blessed to have had these years with her. She always had a smile in her heart and a positive attitude toward life. Our final goodbye and celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola. Pastor Newell Embley, III officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow in Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery, Leola.
