Edwin D. White Sr. of Leola, formerly of Hatboro, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the age of 86. He was a graduate of Upper Moreland High School. He was employed by Philadelphia Suburban Water Co. and the Upper Moreland School District where he was a bus mechanic and driver until retiring. In his younger years, he was a member of the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Ed was also a lifelong member of the Willow Grove United Methodist Church.
Throughout his life, Ed was an avid model train and antique/classic car enthusiast. After his retirement, Ed enjoyed working on his Model A Ford and being a member of and traveling with the Delaware Valley Model A Ford Club.
Ed was the son of the late Robert T. and Edna Mae Gaun White. He was preceded in death by his wife Bette (Rothermel); daughter, Beverly (DePalantino); brothers, Robert, Craig, William and a sister, Margaret. Ed is survived by his son, Edwin Jr. husband of Lori; grandson, Eric all of Warminster; long-time companion, Linda Bowes of Leola, her grandson Victor, and her family.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at Hatboro Cemetery on Fulmor Ave. in Hatboro on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions in Ed's memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
