Elias S. Esh, 86, of Intercourse, went home to be with his Lord January 7, 2016, surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Anna Mae Huyard Esh, who survives him and with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born 1929, he was the son of the late Amos and Annie Smoker Esh.
Elias, a charter member of Ridgeview Mennonite Church, owned and operated Esh’s Archery Shop for 25 years, and in retirement worked at the Manheim Auto Auction.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing and spending time at his mountain cabin, and was a Phillies fan through thick and thin. For his children and grandchildren he was always supportive and always available.
His four children include Sylvan (Melissa Hill), Madison, WI; Calvin (Janet Lind), Strasburg; Linda Hershey (Nathan), Smoketown; and Julie Yoder (J. Dwight), Manheim.
He was blessed with nine grandchildren: Zander and Niko Esh; Isaac Esh; Mitchell, Juliana and Olya Hershey; and Megan, Zachary and Katie Yoder.
Elias is survived by four siblings: Sarah King (John), Jonathan (Mary), Rachel Stoltzfus (the late Reuben), and Naomi Zook (Paul). He was pre-deceased by his brother Samuel (Naomi) and sisters Barbara Beiler (Jonathan) and Annie.
A viewing and time to greet the family will be held Sunday, January 10, 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Ridgeview Mennonite Church. Private interment will be at Ridgeview Mennonite Cemetery. An additional time of greeting will be held Monday, January 11, 10:00am, and a memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Rd., Gordonville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgeview Mennonite Church, Food Pack Program, or to Hospice and Community Care.
