Elizabeth King Rohrer, 93, resident of Landis Homes passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025 with family by her side. Born in Atglen, she was the daughter of the late Elam and Sara Mast King.
Elizabeth graduated from Philadelphia School for the Deaf, where she boarded from an early age. She married Raymond Rohrer, who preceded her in death in 2013. They were married for 61 years, during which Elizabeth was a dedicated homemaker and partner in ministry to the deaf community as Raymond pastored at First Deaf Mennonite Church from 1973 – 1995. She was known for her hospitality to many at church and community and was like a second mother to Viorica and Veturia, who immigrated from Romania.
Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her three daughters and their spouses who she treated like sons, Sue and Eric Martin of Harrisonburg, VA, Darlene and Marvin Rohrer-Meck of Madison, Wisconsin, and Wanda and Leon Rohrer-Heyerly of Hubbard, Oregon; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Martin (Nathan Musselman), Jenna Martin-Trinka (Eric Trinka) and Daniel Martin (Ana Candida Ferraz), Jesse Gerig-Heyerly (Adie Gerig-Heyerly), Jalisa Barron (Max Barron), Jared Bruksch-Meck, (Kim Bruksch-Meck), Karina Rohrer-Meck (Matt Walters); five great grandchildren, Fox Musselman, Nora Bruksch-Meck, Willow Musselman, Niko Bruksch-Meck, and Ari Martin-Trinka; one brother, Laurence King (Shirley), two sisters, Wilma Yoder and Joy Yoder (Allen), two sisters-in-law, Arlene King and Verna Rohrer Beachy. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Rhoda King and brother, Melvin King, and brother-in-law, Robert Yoder.
Elizabeth loved to play games and enjoyed celebrating her wins. She loved anything golf- miniature golf, card game Golf, and watching golf on TV. She was a lifelong learner and embraced new technology, such as her smart phone and iPad, which helped her stay in touch with family members and friends. Her mind and her wit were sharp to the end, and she was known for her spunk and for dancing at her grandchildren’s weddings. She enjoyed traveling, especially visiting family. It was special to her and to Raymond that she was able to attend all the grandchildren’s high school and college graduations and weddings. She was fun to be around and made life fun for her whole family, at King’s Cabin and Rohrer Family Circle. Her goal was to let her light shine as a testimony to God’s goodness and love for her and for others. She placed smiles and laughs like flowers on the hearts of others.
