Ellen A. Olmstead, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2018 at the Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA. She was born in York County but lived most of her life in Lancaster County. Ellen is survived by her husband of 63 years Walter and two children, Dennis married to Marti and Sandy married to Bruce Overholt. Ellen also leaves behind five grandchildren Allison, Ashley, Katie, Kyle, and Neil and six great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of Enos and Anna (Gehman) Martin, had 15 siblings, and is survived by brother John Martin of Sarasota, Florida and his wife Mary Ann.
Ellen was a member of the Forest Hills Mennonite Church. She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking drives, and doing puzzles. Ellen was a free spirit, known to her family as the “rebel" especially when she related her many stories of her farming childhood and teen years. Ellen will be missed dearly by her family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ellen's funeral service at the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 West Main St., Leola, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jon Carlson officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ellen's memory can be sent to Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA 17540.
