Elva L. Whipple, 91, of 2129 Stonecrest Drive, Lancaster, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at her residence. Born in Salisbury, MD, she was the daughter of the late Austin G. and Ethel M. Parkins Thompson. She was married for 68 years to the late Paul Barnes Whipple who died in 2012. Elva was active in the Reamstown Church of God where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Christian Education Board and was the Treasurer of the Ladies Ministry. She enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling.
Elva is survived by her four children: Paul B. Whipple, Jr., of Harrisburg, Paula wife of Scott Reiman of Easton, David husband of Sharon Koppey Whipple of Brownstown, Cheryl Whipple Lennon of Lancaster; eight grandchildren: Paul III, Rosemary, Amanda (Matt), Jared, Kaitlyn, Lauryn, Neil, and Reid. She was preceded in death by a foster son (H. Kenneth Beers), four brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Reamstown Church of God, 400 Pfautz Hill Rd., Stevens, PA. Friends may call Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the church. Interment: Noon Saturday at South Hill Cemetery, Wyalusing, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reamstown Church of God Building Fund, PO Box 98, Stevens, PA 17578.
