Evelyn M. Rankin Slabach, 89, of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2013. Born in West Lampeter Twp., she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Gertrude Spotts Saner. She was the wife of the late Pierce M. Rankin who died in December of 1998 with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage. She was also married the late C. Franklin Slabach who died in June of 2011. Evelyn was a clerical worker for Sperry New Holland and had also worked as a baker for the Conestoga Valley School District. She was a long-time member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Lancaster. She and her late husband Pierce were avid golfers. Surviving are: three sons, Gerald husband of Shirley Rankin of Lititz, C. Robert husband of Bonita Rankin of Amelia, OH, Dean Rankin of Lancaster; a daughter, Joyce wife of Keith Bechtold of Willow Street; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held from the Furman Home for Funerals 59 W. Main St. Leola, on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11 AM with interment following in Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to11 AM at the funeral home on Thursday.
