Fran was born September 4, 1928, and died on April 14th, 2024, at Landis Homes where she had resided for more than 21 years. Fran lived her early years in Braintree, Massachusetts and graduated from Theyer Academy in 1946. She then attended Houghton College State and Presbyterian Hospital in New York, graduating in 1951 with a BS in Nursing. She also attended 3 semesters at Columbia bible College in Columbia, South Carolina (now called Columbia International University) before joining Wycliffe Bible Translators. After the necessary training, she served with Wycliffe for 32 years in Bolivia, most of that time with the Aymara-speaking people of Bolivia. She also served for three years in Guatemala, before returning to the U.S. in 1992 where she worked at the Wycliffe office in Willow Street until retiring in 2006.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eleanor MacNeill, her sister, Mrs. Evelyn McMonigle, and her brother, Donald MacNeill. She is survived by two nieces and six nephews and their spouses, as well as numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces.
There will be a memorial service at the West Bethany Chapel – Landis Homes at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Burial will be at the Merrimac Cemetery in West Newbury, MA.
Fran requests that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be given to the Caring Fund at Landis Homes.
