Frederick P. Oster Jr., 87 of Leola, formerly of New Holland, entered into rest on Monday, September 1, 2014. He was the loving husband of Marian Stover Oster. They were married 68 years last May. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mary Rittenhouse Oster.
Mr. Oster was a supervisor in final finishing at Nomad/Layton, Leola. Prior to that, he worked at Ix's Silk Mill, New Holland. At the end of WWII, he served as a medical technician for the 118th Station Hospital in Japan. A past Sertoma member and member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Leola, he enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with family.
He will also be lovingly missed by: daughters, Judy McGallicher, Leola, Michele Oster companion of John Gavin, Audubon, NJ; grandchildren, Jody Jenks, Kimberly wife of John Fisher Jr., Douglas Esbenshade, Courtney Esbenshade, Tylor Brooks-Oster; great-grandchildren, Taylor Fisher, Michaela Woods, Nicholas Jenks, Haley Fisher, Elijah Fisher, Olivia Olsen; a great-great-granddaughter, Sophia. A son, Dennis Oster and two brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing: 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Kindly omit flowers. Memorials welcomed to: Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster PA 17604-4125.
