George H. Clarke

7/7/2025

On July 7th, 2025, George H. Clarke passed away peacefully at the age of 90. A devoted salesman for Dahlonega Box, George traveled extensively and genuinely loved his work—so much so that he continued working until just two weeks before his passing. To him, it was never really work; he loved what he did.

Born to Clement and Florence Clarke, George grew into the kind of man you always wanted around—especially if something needed fixing, someone needed a story, or directions were required that were always perfect, even before GPS. He was a true craftsman, a Clemson fan through and through, and the type of guy who could tell you a tale from his youth so well that you’d swear you were right there with him—finger guns and all.

He was the definition of a family man: supportive, hardworking, and rooted in his faith. George showed his love in quiet, consistent ways—by making sure your car had gas, your table had a chair, and your heart had a home. Not only did he talk about values—he lived them, and you learned by watching him.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anne Clarke, who was the love of his life and his partner through it all. Together they raised four daughters: Debbie Wilson (Dave), Brenda Crosetto (Bob), Julie Butler (Mike), and Jane Kaufman (Bill), who carry forward his wit, strength, and eye-roll-worthy jokes.

He was also the proud grandfather of 9, great-grandfather of 12, and a storyteller to all. His brother Edward Clarke (Patricia) survives him. He is reunited now with his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Lee Nearing, and his beloved granddaughter Amanda.

Whether he was tinkering in the garage, cheering on Clemson, or tossing out his signature line—“Glad you got to see me”—George had a devilish twinkle in his eye and a heart full of kindness.

A service will be held on Saturday, July 26th at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 301 St. Thomas Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601, where George was a devoted member.
