Gordon W. Fritz, 82, of Smoketown, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Mennonite Home. Born in Smoketown, he was the son of the late John I. and Dorothy Whiteside Fritz. He was married to Helen Smith Fritz for over 60 years.
A lifelong resident of Smoketown, Gordon, along with his wife, owned and operated Smoketown Quality Dairy Sales for over 35 years. He enjoyed his daily cup of coffee with his friends at Kingree's Store, Jenny's Diner and Bird-in-Hand Restaurant. He was an avid sports fan. After his retirement, he drove the back roads of Lancaster County and would often stop to enjoy a youth baseball game or public sale.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: 2 sons, Gordon E. husband of Suzanne Kingree Fritz of Leola, Ronald W. husband of Kathy Kraft Fritz of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren, Jill wife of James Parmer, Geoffrey husband of Sara Rittenhouse Fritz, Krissy wife of Adam Koenig, Renee Fritz; 2 great-grandchildren, Grace and George Fritz; a brother, J. Harold husband of Doris Fritz; a sister, Fay Good; sister-in-law, Shirley wife of the late Robert W. Fritz.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Mennonite Home for their kind and compassionate care of Gordon.
Funeral services will be held from the Furman Home for Funerals 59 W. Main St. Leola, on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11 AM with interment following in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster. A viewing will be held on Friday, from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. There will be no viewing on Saturday. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions to benefit the East Lampeter Township Park may be made to “East Lampeter Township" 2250 Old Philadelphia Pike Lancaster, PA 17602.
