Isabel Abreu, 75, of Willow Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017. Born in Aibonito- La Plata, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Pedro and Juana Cartajena Rivera. She was the wife of Alejo Abreu Pinto. The couple was married for 58 years.
Isabel was a member of Willow Street Mennonite Church. She was often singing or humming gospel songs. An immaculate homemaker, Isabel enjoyed gardening, yard sales, and took pride in raising her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are: nine children, Miriam (Andrew) Flores, Alejo Abreu, Jr., Jose (Jaqueline Juarbe) Abreu, Cindy (Robert) Morales, Elisa Abreu, Milta Abreu, Evelyn Abreu, Sonya (Zachary) Snyder, Sylvia Abreu; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ismeal (Cholo) Rivera, Reynaldo Rivera; four sisters, Carmen Oyola, Ezperanza Rios, Milagros Lopez, Migdalia Montanez. She was preceded in death by a brother, Cándido Rivera.
Funeral services will be held from Willow Street Mennonite Church 399 E. Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at 11 am with interment following in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 am at the church on Saturday. Kindly omit flowers.
