J. Raymond Olweiler, 97, of Lancaster formerly of New Holland, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Harvey and Ida M. Hippensteel Olweiler. He was the loving husband of Carol Ann Meyers Shenk Olweiler for 18 years and the late Mildred Shue Olweiler who died in 1999.
Mr. Olweiler was a computer programmer for Weaver’s Poultry, New Holland. Before that he worked at the Olmstead Air Force base in Middletown in aircraft maintenance and instrument repair including the new Astrocompass. He was a member of the Community Bible Church, Leola, an Army veteran, and he also was very dedicated to his family. His son and daughter were born with muscular dystrophy and his loving attention to the details of their care was remarkable.
In addition to his wife, he will also be lovingly missed by: four step-children, Jerry (Patty Fletcher) Shenk, Leola, David (Rose Fisher) Shenk, Lancaster, Wayne (Stephanie Sensenig) Shenk, Ephrata, Ruthy Heister, Lititz; 11 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Nellenbach, Maytown; a sister-in-law, Velma Olweiler.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by: two children, Timothy and Colleen Olweiler; brothers, Fred and Lawrence; sisters, Beulah Redcay, Ethel Lueders, Beatrice Troutman.
Funeral Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 at the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola. The family will greet friends from 9:30 – 10 a.m. Interment: Good’s Cemetery, 4265 Bossler Rd., Elizabethtown.
