Age 90, of Leola, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017. She was the adoring wife of late Henry S. Groff, the love of her life, and the devoted mother to two children, late Mary Ellen Holland and son Henry Clay (Stasia). Joan is survived by her sister Mary Lou Lee, four grandchildren Henry and Joany Holland, Hallie and H. Clay Groff, and many loving nieces and nephews. Joan is predeceased by two of her fellow “Ranck girls,” Nancy Taylor and Barbara Ashenfelter and her parents Charles and Mabel Ranck. Joan was a schoolteacher for 30 years at Leola Elementary and a member of Leola Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her endless positivity (“one day at a time”), sense of humor, and love for her family and friends.
