Joanne M. Echternach, 80, of Leola, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. She was the loving wife of Jacob R. Echternach. They were married 62 years in June. Mrs. Echternach was the daughter of the late Milton and Elsie Amspacker Michaelis.
An institutional cook in food service, Joanne worked at numerous facilities over the years. She was a member of the Ebenezer E.C. Church, Brownstown and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
In addition to her husband, she will be greatly missed by: three sons, Jacob “Jack" married to Shirley Eby Echternach, Ephrata, Joseph married to Donna Steffen Echternach, Conroe,TX, John married to Judy Glick Echternach, Ephrata; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Eric, Megan Allen, Joseph, Justin, Debbie Allen, Candace Hnasko, Zachary, Jennifer Ingram; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia married to Floyd Myer, Leola. A great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola with interment following in Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery. Viewing: 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Kindly omit flowers.
