Jody Lynn Keener, 44, of Leola, Pennsylvania, passed away at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, after a courageous battle with epithelioid angiosarcoma.

Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of Elmer “Moe” Barry, husband of Susan Hendricks Barry, New Providence, PA, and Cindy Miller, wife of Brett Miller, of Lititz, PA.

She is survived by her husband, John M. Keener; a son, Michael S. Petrofske, husband of Camille Durham Petrofske, Hartley DE; and a daughter, Elizabeth A., wife of Roland A Pollak, of Ephrata, PA.

Jody is also survived by a sister, Tonie Marie Shertzer, wife of David M. Shertzer, of Lititz, PA; and a brother, Zeph A. Barry, companion of Sandra Quinn, of Niagara Falls, NY; a step sister, Grete Miller, of New York City; and a step son, Tyler D. Keener, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania.

Additionally, she is survived by two grandsons, Victor Alexander Pollak and Benjamin Andrew Pollak, of Ephrata, PA; and nephew, Jared D. Shertzer, of Lititz, PA.

Jody is an alumnus of Pequea Valley High School and the cosmetology program at Lancaster County Career and Technology Center. She worked at the Petters Company, Rothsville, and Hair Express in Ephrata, before founding her own salon, Details Hair Design, also in Ephrata, in August of 2000. She served on the advisory board for the cosmetology program at LCCTC. Jody cherished the many wonderful friendships she developed with customers and coworkers during the past fifteen years at Details Hair.

Jody was an avid fitness enthusiast and member of the Lancaster Road Runners Club. She enjoyed travel and snorkeling trips in the Gulf of Mexico, the Sea of Cortez, and many coral reefs throughout the Caribbean Sea. She loved South Florida, Northern Vermont and many beautiful vistas along the Pacific coast. Jody was an accomplished cook and enjoyed hosting big holiday feasts for family and friends.

She was a kind and compassionate soul who was loved by all who knew her. She had a gift for appreciating the beauty that she found all around her.
