John Leonard “Jack” Holton, 93, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John Luther Holton and Linda (Allen) Holton Adams. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Yeagley) Holton, who passed away in June 2023. They were married 50 years.
Over the years, John worked in electronics and IT in major manufacturing. After retiring from Unisys, he continued to work for the County part time until he was 85. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955.
John loved the outdoors, music, reading and crossword puzzles. Hunting, fishing, bowling and bicycling were a few of his hobbies. In later years, he was an avid walker.
John is survived by a step-daughter, Ann E. wife of Dennis Furlow, Waterville, PA; siblings, Robert husband of Patricia Holton, Conestoga, Barbara Groff, RI, Cynthia Macey, OH; sister-in-law, Melba Holton, Lancaster; and his grandchildren, John, Amanda, Crystal, Kerry, Ashley and Steven.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, David M. and Chester A. Holton; step-son, Steven M. Hassell; and a brother, Richard Holton.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
