John (Jack) R. Delp, 79, of New Holland, Pa., answered God's call and went home to be with him forever on Oct. 20, 2015.
Born April 28, 1936 in Lancaster, Pa., Jack was the son of Elmer Z. and Cleo Himmelberger Delp. He shared 58 years of marriage, and is survived by his devoted wife Joan Lowry Delp.
Jack was a graduate of New Holland H.S. and attended Penn State Univ. He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, New Holland and was instrumental in developing and administering the multi-media presentations for its 2 worship services and a bible study, until his health began to deteriorate.
Jack spent the second half of his life in Real Estate as an agent, broker and appraiser. He retired as owner of Robert T. Coates Real Estate, Gap, Pa. Earlier, he served on the board of Goodwill Industries and was involved in Jaycees.
From a very early age throughout most of his life, Jack thoroughly enjoyed surf fishing with his family, especially the Delaware beaches Rehoboth and Dewey.
In additional to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Bret D. of New Holland and Bart M., husband of Sally (Bitler) Delp, of Blue Ball. He is also survived by grandsons Cody Delp, Dylan Delp, and Nathan Kramer, and granddaughters Elizabeth Kramer and Sara Kramer Poponak (Noah), who blessed him with a great-granddaughter Lucy Poponak.
Jack's surviving siblings include sister Charlotte Yoder (Ken) of Lancaster and brother Trent Delp (Linda) of New Holland. Also, brothers – in – law Ray Lowry (Rosann) of Lititz, Gene Lowry (Mary) of New Holland and Russ Gehman of New Holland survive. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by a sister, Julianne Yunginger Gehman of New Holland.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at New Holland E.U.M. Church, 276 W. Main St. New Holland, Pa. OMIT FLOWERS.
