Joseph L. Heller, 74, of New Holland, went to his Forever home on Sunday July 27, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Clyde L. and Kathryn (Landis) Heller. He was the devoted husband of Marilyn J. (Reed) Heller for 53 years.
Joe was a safety specialist at Horst Construction where he worked for over 40 years. He was a board member at ABC Associated Builders & Contractors. He also taught construction related topics at Brownstown Vo-Tech. He was a 1969 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and a 1973 graduate of Millersville University. A member of Mellinger Mennonite Church, Joe was a past Sunday School Teacher starting with the college & careers class, and later with the older men’s class. He was also a past science teacher at Lancaster Mennonite High School. He enjoyed writing letters to the editor of Lancaster Newspapers. Joe enjoyed sports and was involved with wrestling and gymnastics in high school.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: a brother, Robert married to Joanne Heller, Mount Joy; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Heller, Lancaster, Kitty Heller, Lititz; 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde L., John L., Jim L., and Harvey E. Heller.
Funeral services will be from the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola, on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11 a.m. with interment following in Bareville Cemetery.
