Lena W. Oberholtzer, age 77, formerly of Leola, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Sunny Crest Home, Morgantown. Born on Oct. 8, 1940 in Upper Leacock Twp., she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Anna H. (Weaver) Oberholtzer. She was employed at the Ephrata Community Hospital for a number of years before retiring to care for her aged mother. She was a member of the Groffdale Conference Mennonite Church at Groffdale.
Surviving are five brothers and one sister: Ivan W. Oberholtzer (Martha) of Millmont, PA, Anna W. wife of John Aaron Zimmerman of Shiloh, OH, John W. Oberholtzer (the late Lena) of Lobelville, TN, Joseph W. Oberholtzer (the late Martha) of Leola, Harry W. Oberholtzer (Edna) of Lewistown, PA, David W. Oberholtzer (Emma) of Elma, IA; and 112 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by the following siblings: Esther W. Ringler (Amos), Jacob W. Oberholtzer (Mabel), Elizabeth W. Shirk (Paul), Martha W. Newswanger (Paul), and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held from the Joseph W. Oberholtzer residence, 60 Graybill Road, Leola on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 9:00 a.m., with further services at the Groffdale (Frame) Mennonite Church, Groffdale Church Road, Leola at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. A viewing will be held at the Joseph W. Oberholtzer residence on Monday, June 11th from 5-8 p.m. The family wishes to express thanks and appreciation to the staff at Sunny Crest Home and Hospice & Community Care for the comfort and care that they provided during Lena's illness.
