Leonard S. Brunk

Leonard S. Brunk

1/1/2025

Leonard S Brunk, age 93, of Lititz, PA, was called to his eternal home with Jesus on January 1, 2025.  He was born in Elida, OH, on April 13, 1931 to the late Wilbur F Brunk and Florence E Diller.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Horst Frederick; son, Leon and his wife Wendy; son, James and his wife, Sandy; and daughter, Elaine and her husband, Sid Frey; brother, Herbert and his wife Norma, and sister-in-law, Violet Brunk; as well as 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and 2 (and another one on-the-way) great-great grandchildren.  He considered Anna’s children and their families as part of his extended family as well.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Metzler, and his brother, Alden.

Leonard surrendered his life to Jesus Christ at age 12.  It was always his desire to live his life in such a way as to honor his Lord and Saviour and to bless all whom his life touched.  He often acknowledged that he fell short of that at times.

Leonard spent his early adult years as a carpenter by trade and used those skills to make many beautiful wood pieces later in life. Leonard served first as a deacon in the West Union Mennonite Church of Rexville, NY and was later ordained as Pastor of the congregation.  He pastored for 18 years while also working full-time in the NAPA auto parts store in Westfield, PA.  In later years, he worked at Penn York Camp, Ulysses, PA, Tel Hai Camp, Honey Brook, PA and Kerns Hardware Store, Honey Brook, PA.  He and his late wife, Edna, moved to Landis Homes in 2004 where he volunteered in the woodshop, fixed wheelchairs, directed the mixed chorus, and served at the sound board among other things.  In 2015, Leonard and Anna said their wedding vows, not knowing how many years they would have together; they were blessed with 9 wonderful years.

Leonard’s request is that if his life blessed you in any way, praise and thank God for what God did through him.  If he hurt you in any way, please forgive him.  A Memorial Service will be held on February 22, 2025 at Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel beginning at 2:00, with a light meal following.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to the Landis Homes Caring Fund.  https://www.landishomes.org/give/fund-designations/
