Lorraine L. Humbert

4/21/2013

Lorraine Landis Humbert of Leola, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 21, 2013. Born on October 31, 1933 to Albert F. and Eleanora Landis, at the 1728 house in Landis Valley, she was married to Richard W. Humbert for 59 years. In addition to Richard, she will be greatly missed by her four children: Wesley R. (Shari) of Harrisburg, Philip C. (Tamera) of Lititz, Nathan D. (Susan) of Denver, and Julia (Jeff) of Ambler, and her twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is the sister of Joyce L. Plank and Harold G. Landis. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a loyal and caring daughter and sister. Lorraine’s greatest joy in life was her family and she loved caring for her children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends’ children. A member of the National Honor Society, Lorraine was an avid lifelong reader and dabbled in writing. She attempted with varying degrees of success to pass on her love of piano to her children and played for her church for many years. After raising her family, she returned to work for Pennfield Corp., the Conservation District of Lancaster, and Provident Books. She was known for her quick witted, but gentle sense of humor and always had a kind word and sympathetic ear for any who needed one. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. All services will be at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 7012, Albert Lea, MN 56007-8012.
