Born in Philadelphia on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1920, Louise R. Koppenhaver lived a life devoted to love, beauty, family and friendship. Her first loves were her parents, Beatrice and David Fuhrman; she was an only child.
Louise met her great romantic love, Warren S. Koppenhaver at West Chester State Teacher’s College, now known as West Chester University of Pennsylvania. They married on August 16, 1944 and together celebrated 66 years of marriage. Warren passed in 2010.
Louise R. Koppenhaver was a dedicated elementary school teacher in Delaware County for over 45 years, most of those years in Springfield School District teaching 1st and 2nd grade.
Louise R. Koppenhaver passed away gracefully with family on July 26 at her home in Lancaster County. She is survived by two daughters, Dawn S. Mazzone, husband Albert Mazzone of Chester County and April M. Koppenhaver, husband Charles E. Gaul II of Lancaster County, three grandsons, David Mazzone of Philadelphia, Daniel Mazzone of New York, and Jered Koppenhaver of Lancaster, and three great grandchildren Asher, Aria, and Laurel.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, July 30 with visitation at 10:00 and services at 11:00 at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 West Main Street, Leola, PA 17540. In lieu of flowers, contributions to an animal charity of your choice would be appreciated.
