     Mahlon K. Kurtz, 90, of Tel Hai Retirement Community, formerly of Elverson, went to join his wife with the Lord on Tuesday, August 18, 2015.  Born in Caernarvon Twp., Berks County, he was the son of the late Abram and Katie King Kurtz. His wife of 67 years Charlotte Piersol Kurtz died in November 2014. 

     Mr. Kurtz was the longtime owner and operator of the Kurtz Fish Hatchery, Elverson retiring in 1988.  A member of the Forest Hills Mennonite Church, Leola and the Buck Hollow Hunting Club, he served on various civic and professional organizations.

    Surviving are: his children, Randall (Jan) Kurtz, Hampstead, MD, Mahlon Joseph (Jane) Kurtz, Richard (Barbara) Kurtz, Melody (Charles) Smith, all of Elverson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by: a grandson, Christopher Kurtz; brothers, Ike and Jonathan; sisters, Anna Mary Yoder and Sadie Kirkland. 

     The Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 at the Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Rd., Leola.  Visitation with the family will take place at Tel Hai Ret. Community Chapel, 1200 Tel Hai Cir., Honey Brook on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Interment will be private in Eby Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcomed to the Tel Hai Care Assurance Fund, attn: Development Office, PO Box 190, Honey Brook, PA 19344.
