Our beloved son Marc A. Wortel, 24, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly at home on March 28, 2015. He was the son of Antoni Michel Wortel and Lorin Schaich Wortel, twin brother to Miranda L. Wortel, and grandson of Dolores Y. Schaich and Jacoba Elizabeth Fennigje Wortel-Tol. Preceding him in death were his grandfathers William A. Schaich and Antonius Cornelis Wortel.
Marc attended Locust Grove Mennonite School and was a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, 2009. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, 2013, graduating with honors. He worked as a Medical Abstractor for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and most recently as a Certified Weigh Master and Laboratory Technician for the Dairy Farmers of America.
He was the #2 Player on the Tennis Team during high school and continued to play during his time at the University. He worked for the University as a Laboratory Assistant for his final two years at school.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend Marc’s Viewing at Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers, 2555 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Interment: the adjoining cemetery.
We encourage flowers be sent to Salem Evangelical Church for the service to mourn the loss of this promising young life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
